Anti Wrinkle Treatment

As we age, we often start noticing lines forming on our face. The great news is that anti-wrinkle injections are a simple solution to preventing fine lines while maintaining a youthful appearance. Wrinkles or expression lines are the end result of excessive ultraviolet (UV) exposure, changes in hormonal levels, general ageing and the damaging effects of free radicals.

Which Facial Lines Are Suitable For Muscle Relaxant Injections?

Anti-Wrinkle Injections will either improve or completely remove facial lines caused by repetitive muscle contraction. The most frequently treated areas are:

  • ‘Frown lines’ – the vertical lines or furrows between the eyebrows

  • ‘Surprise lines’ – the horizontal lines across the forehead

  • ‘Crow’s feet’ – at the sides of the eyes

  • Lines under the eyes

  • ‘Bunny Crunches’ on the upper nose

Reassuringly, the muscle relaxant only prevents the contraction of the muscles into which it is injected. It does NOT produce any numbness of the skin in the injected area or any internal side effects.

Other uses of muscle-relaxing injections include the correction of:

  • ‘Gummy smile’ – showing an excessive amount of upper gum on smiling

  • ‘Canine smile’ – a ‘snarling’ type of smile

  • ‘Turned down’ corners of the mouth

  • Flared nostrils

  • Vertical neck bands

  • Hyperhidrosis – excessive perspiration (sweating) of under-arms, groins, hands or feet

Our Services

Brow lifting

As some people age, their brows start to droop, and they look more tired. The most superior non-invasive treatment to lift the brows is muscle relaxing, antiwrinkle injections. We can additionally use dermal fillers to further lift the brows.

Cheek lines

Cheek wrinkles can occur when a person smiles (using the cheek muscles and the orbicularis oculi muscle). These wrinkles are associated with ‘crows feet’ and under-eye lines. Over time, these lines will become deep and show up even when the person is not smiling. These lines can extend and eventually join the dynamic smile lines in the lower face. Cheek wrinkling is treated through the combination of muscle relaxing injections and dermal filler.

Chin Crease | Mental Crease

As we age the horizontal crease on the chin can become very deep. This also occurs when the associated chin muscle is overused. The chin crease can be treated with muscle relaxing injections and/or Dermal Fillers.

Chin Dimpling

As we age and lose bone and soft tissue on the face, the chin can become less smooth, creating a dimpling appearance. This can be more obvious when a patient is talking, with the dimpling standing out with certain movements in the area. Muscle relaxants and dermal fillers can be used to treat this condition.

Crow’s Feet

The most superior treatment for Crow’s Feet is antiwrinkle injections (due to Australian regulations, we are not allowed to name the specific drugs used). A small injection using a very fine needle is performed to the outside of the eye muscle where the lines are located on smiling.

DAO Muscle | Downturned mouth

As we age the mouth can take on a downturned appearance. This causes the face to have a sad expression and generally sour appearance. Some patients subconsciously overuse the DAO muscle(depressor anguli oris) , by constantly pulling down the mouth corners. The downturned mouth can be treated with muscle relaxing injections. The injections stop the DAO muscle pulling down the corners of the mouth. Treatment will cause the edges of the mouth to be slightly lifted, giving the mouth a more relaxed, happy, youthful and pleasing appearance.

Face Slimming

Face slimming, also known as masseter slimming, or jawline slimming. Muscle relaxant is used to slim the masseter muscles, which reduces the width of the lower face below the cheekbones. For a beautiful, feminine face shape, like a V-shaped face or a heart-shaped face, there should be a curve from upper cheeks to the lower third of the face, rather than a square, round or boxy shape.

Frown and Forehead Lines

Frown lines are the vertical lines which appear in your forehead when you’re expressing a negative emotion (e.g. anger, frustration, concern or worry). Muscle relaxing injections are the first-line treatment for frown lines. Small doses using a very fine needle are performed to the forehead into the muscles, which causes the eyebrows to be raised (frontalis). Dermal fillers can also be used to enhance the effect.

Gummy Smile

A gummy smile is a common problem where on smiling, a large area of gum can be seen above the upper teeth. Sometimes gummy smiles are genetic and will run in a family. Small injections with a very fine needle are used to relax the muscles to bring the upper lip down to resolve the excessive gum display.

Lip Lines | Smokers Lines

Dermal fillers are the best treatment for smokers lines and lip border and lip lines. However, in some patients, the vertical lines can be reduced through the combination of dermal fillers and antiwrinkle injections.

Neck Lift | Nefertiti Lift | Platysmal Band Treatment

As we age the muscles on our necks shorten and pull on our jawlines and causes a jowly appearance. Injecting some muscle relaxing injections into these muscles can lengthen the bands in our neck, overall improving the appearance of the neck and the jawline.

Nose Tip Lifting

As we age, the nose tip will droop and create a less balanced face profile. Some patients also dislike their nose tip after surgery or an injury to the nose. A droopy nose tip can be treated with muscle relaxing injections. The injections relax the muscle which pulls down the nose tip. Treatment will give the mouth a more youthful and balanced appearance.

Essentially no. Our only advice is that you not press or rub the injected areas for 4 hours after treatment; otherwise you may move the product to adjacent muscles.
